EXPOL UNDER- FLOOR INSULATION INSULATION
Vs DAMPNESS
The placing of Expol Under-floor Insulation beneath a timber
floor provides a high value thermal insulation barrier between
the interior and exterior of the house. Air heated in the
house will remain warmer for longer. Cold air and draughts
will not enter the house through the insulation.
If your home is damp under the floor, there could be several
causes:
- Check if there is air flow beneath the floor provided
by vents around the perimeter of the house, or, horizontal
timber slats spaced apart to allow air to circulate.
- There may be trapped water under your home, caused by
insufficient drainage, or, run-off from surrounding areas,
which may be tracking through your property and under your
floor.
Placing a vapour barrier such as foil or polythene as insulation
beneath your floor may create condensation in the house, or
even trap water within the house.
Insulating under your floor WILL save heating costs
and keep your home warm, it may not solve all of your dampness
problems.
It is important to explore all possible causes for dampness
and deal with them as suggested above. For further information
